Article One

Here is an article that discusses the data visualizatin theory and process:

http://www.sans.org/reading-room/whitepapers/detection/design-theory-data-visualization-tools-techniques-359

This article had an illustration in the middle that process for visualization. Just like this weeks lecture described it starts off with a set of data. Then use software and algorithm to organize the data into images, graphs or tables. Last Use psychology and perception of the potential viewers to shape the data to be best viewed and understood. The article also discusses how to use, “who, what, where, when and how” as a guide to create a data visualization.

Article Two

Here is the second article about the theory of data visualization:

https://sites.google.com/site/bernicerogowitz/theory-of-visualization

The best thing to me about this article which agrees with the lectures is with a data visualization the data is “manipulated and transformed to reveal deeper structures of underlying data”.

Article Three

Below is a link to the third article:

https://www.perceptualedge.com/articles/b-eye/choosing_colors.pdf

This articles discusses how to proper;y use colors for data visualization. The article discuses principles of color design such as color contrast and analogy, dimensions (hue, value and chroma) and how each effect the data visualization. The article next talks about making the colors legible by mixing and positioning the colors correctly. Lastly the article discusses how to pick the correct and most relevant color to describe each piece of data in the visualization.
